South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense (NMD) considers planning specific regulatory measures for people in the military facility to refrain from the cryptocurrency trading, as it could harm soldiers’ morale according to a recent local news reports. Currently, NMD started blocking the online access to the cryptocurrency exchanges at internet cafes in the military bases.
NMD’s official claimed that NMD would announce specific countermeasures for the cryptocurrency transaction in military units, after the internal discussion on whether the trading is against military regulations.
The Minister of Justice Park Sang-ki said on January 11 that the government is going to plan a bill on banning on the transaction via the cryptocurrency exchange. Meanwhile, the Presidential Blue House website was flooded with hundreds and thousands of petitions, as well as comments against the planned regulations as reported.
