bitFlyer Buys Web Developer further to Facilitate Customer Service, Tech-Advisor Joins

bitFlyer, a Japan-based cryptocurrency Exchange operator, recently announced that the Japan’s largest crypto Exchange, per the transaction volume, acquired a 100% stake in Webnium, a Tokyo-based web service developer, for an undisclosed amount.

Established in 2013, Webnium has a technological expertise in the integration of API, UI・UX, and Microsoft Azure for its web application development. Webnium already developed and provided the highly-functioned market chart to bitFlyer.

The acquisition would improve customer services in cryptocurrency space via the further collaboration between Webnium and bitFlyer.  

Established in 2014, bitFlyer has various blockchain-related business, including analysis and R&D of private blockchain “miyabi”, along with its core crypto platform operation.

Tom Love,  who is a co-developer for Objective-C and holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Washington, has joined as a technology advisor for expanding bitFlyer’s technological development in the blockchain-related language programming, according to a separate announcement, published in April 6. Love has working experiences at General Electric, IBM, Morgan Stanley among others.        

Backed by a number of domestic investors such as SMBC Venture Capital, Dai-Ichi Life Insurance, QUICK, GMO Venture Partners, bitFlyer has its working capital of about JPY4bn(USD 38m), according to its website information.
